The last time Holly and I saw Sheila, just a few weeks before she passed away, she was so bubbly, and positive, despite the pain she was in, exemplifying her mental, spiritual strength. We chatted about how she and Derek met, how he won her over - with tickets to the theater, chocolates, fine dining and a good sense of humor!, and about Dave and Jo's wedding. We insisted she didn't need to see us all the way out as we left, but she did, and I can still hear her cheerful goodbye ring in my ears and feel her enthusiastic embrace.
Sheila was my godmother, but really she was like a godmother, or grandmother, to all of three of us Marsh siblings. She came to our mum's rescue when we were neighbors at the Coachhouse in Hurst and mum was trying to raise three kids under 4 years old without any nearby family support - they became best friends. Sheila looked after us, baked us birthday cakes, and took us for dog walks. She was a constant, loving presence in our early years. Later, after she and Derek moved here to Oakham, we still met up frequently, especially to commemorate important occasions - like my 18th, when we went for lunch in Albi, or Sheila's 70th, which we celebrated at home in the sun.
In recent years, as our family has traversed some difficult moments, Sheila and Derek have been absolute rocks and we Marsh siblings in particular are so grateful for their constant support, love and understanding. And I know Sheila will always be with us, in spirit.

Sheila and I were married for 49 years and 1 day on the day she died, she was a lovely person who cared. She was my wife but also the mother to our son David. Throughout her illness she never complained, we were able to travel in May to Jersey and it was only in the last 6 weeks she became confined to our home, however she saw friends and relatives and made time to write her memorial service. She will be much missed by David and I and all others who knew her - Sheila may you now rest in peace
